This Dress Code applies to all Members and Adults of the
International Order of the Rainbow for Girls when attending their:
Home Assembly, Grand Assembly, Supreme Assembly, or representing Rainbow in anyway.

The Universal Dress Code was recommended by the Rainbow Renewal Task Force
and approved by the Supreme Executive Board, October 2000.

Illinois Grand Jurisdiction expects all Illinois Assemblies to follow the Universal Dress Code.
Every member should be made aware of this information.

BUSINESS (regular stated) MEETINGS, AND OTHER FRATERNAL AND CIVIC EVENTS

Appropriate Business Attire Description For Members and Advisors:

Females: Dress, dress pants, or skirt and blouse may be worn of any color. Your choice must look and be considered tasteful and appropriate. Avoid any black and very dark colors as much as possible.

Length of dress or skirt should be no higher than two inches above the knee. Dress shoes must be worn.

Males: Dress pants with dress shirt or polo shirt.

Attire that is not appropriate:  Jeans, tight pants, skorts, mini skirts, capris, T-shirts, tube tops or halter-tops.

INITIATIONS & INSTALLATIONS

Appropriate Formal Attire Description:

For members and Mother Advisors: Formal dress, which may be floor or tea-length. Your choice must be considered tasteful and appropriate (not revealing in any way). Formals must have shoulder straps and may have a limited open back.  Formals may be of any color except black and very dark colors.

Back of formal should not fall below the natural bra line. Slit in the formal's skirt may not go above the knee. Dress shoes must be worn.

For candidates: A church-like dress is appropriate. Dress can be of any color except black and very dark colors, and must measure below the knee. Dress shoes must be worn.

For advisors and guests:
Females: Dress or skirt and blouse. Mother Advisors must wear a formal dress.

Males: Dress pants with dress shirt and tie. Jacket is optional.

Dress shoes must be worn.

Attire that is not appropriate: Revealing formals.

SERVICE PROJECTS, PRACTICES, SOCIALS,
PUBLIC RELATION EVENTS, FUND RAISING, TRAVELING, ETC.

Weather permitting and providing the event does not require professional dress:

Appropriate Attire Description For Members and Advisors:  Skorts, pants, jeans or shorts may be worn when appropriate for the activity. Pants, jeans and shorts must be worn at the waistline, have no holes, have a hem, and must be in good taste and appropriate.

Shirts must contain no print that is offensive or controversial. Matching polo or T-shirts for the Assembly are appropriate and suggested.

(Appropriate Casual Wear at Illinois Grand Assembly may be worn in the evenings after sessions.  Remember, Mrs. Renda requests "No blue jeans or cut-offs please!")

Attire that is not appropriate:  Short shorts, tight jeans, mini skirts, halter-tops, tube tops, spandex shorts or spandex pants.

(Sleepwear must not be worn in the hallways of the hotel at Illinois Grand Assembly.)

 SWIMMING ATTIRE

Bathing suits may be one-piece or two-piece providing the suit is in good taste and not revealing. In hotels and other facilities, cover-ups and appropriate shoes must be worn when traveling to and from the pool.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

Proper undergarments must always be worn and not be visible.

Hosiery is suggested when wearing meeting or formal attire.  (Mrs. Renda does ask that all members of the Illinois Grand Family wear hosiery at all meetings and practices.)

Dress shoes: Clogs and athletic shoes are not considered “dress shoes.” (Mrs. Renda askes all members of the Illinois Grand Family to wear dress shoes that are full shoes--not slip-on styles at all meetings and practices.)

Body piercing jewels (other than earrings) should not be worn at Rainbow functions  (tattoos must be covered)
